Tris-
Is a firecracker because she is always unpredictable in the things she does in moments of panic and had a firary personality that can't be smothered. Like in the book Tris told everyone that she was going to stay back from the battle but she went behind everyones back and worked with enemys, risking her life to her goal of releasing this information.
Tobias
Is a moon always there even when you can't see him and just his presence and calm you. Like in the book whenever Tris sees Tobias his calm and collected attitude calms her down. Also in the book Tobias is always there for Tris and willing to do anything for her.

The Best thing.....
So I am nearing the end of the third book of the great trilogy of Divergent by Veronica Roth. And I would like to take a look on the best things about these books are. First of all the unexpected twists and turns are one thing that I love about these books. You never know what is going to happen next or how the characters are going to react to them. For an example when the divergents escape the city to go save the world but then find out that all that they worked for was an experiment and just them can not save the world. I love this aspect of the book because I never know what will happen next and literally can not put the book down.
Another thing that I love about (only in the Allegiant book) is how the chapters are now both in Tobias' and Tris' viewpoint. This is especially good for this book because they are both at crossings with big problems. But, their problems are very different so it is a good thing that we can hear about both of their thoughts and feelings towards their problems. Also it gives the reader insight on more about what goes through Tobias' mind since till this book only Tris has narrated it. Nearing the end of this book I'm excited to see was twists will happen and how both Tris and Tobias react to it.
Thanks for stopping in! See you next week!

Shocked and Afriaid or Excited and Adventurous? - Allegiant
In the book Allegiant by Veronica Roth the characters all react to the
main conflict very differently. Some more severe than others. *cough *cough * Tobias. Like seriously. Man up. Anyways the conflict that is at hand is adjusting to their
lifestyle change, which is a major one if I do say so myself. First of all they
find out that the world they know is actually a city in a state, which is a
state in a country, and is a country in a continent which there are seven of.
Then they learn about how for their whole lives they have been part of an
experiment relating to their genes. It's like if one day you wake up to find that everything that you have worked for was pointless. This affects the main characters in the book in different
ways.
For instance they tell Tobias that the divergents are the people with pure undamaged genes. But, when they go to test them he finds out that they are in fact damaged. In the book this is Tobias' reaction when he finds this out, " The word 'damaged' sinks inside me like it's made of lead. I guess I always knew there was something wrong with me..." (Roth 176) This shows how crushed Tobias was when he heard the news, it made him feel worthless. The doctors try to explain that sometimes this happens. This enrages him very much because it is as if they are saying there is something wrong with him. He feels like he can't talk to Tris anymore because she can't understand what he's going through because her genes are pure and unharmed. I wonder when he will accept this news and realize that it doesn't change who he is.
Tris finds out that her mother who had died saving her life was sent into the experiment and once lived out in the real world. She uncovers many secrets about her mothers past and why she was sent in to the experiment. As she does this she goes through many emotions. The first of these is betrayal, she wonders why her mother wouldn't tell her this. Then it's wonder of many questions that were now unanswered. Did my dad know? What was she sent in to do? Tris went searching for these answers from anyone who knew her mother. But this just seemed like with every answer she got, more and more questions came up. At this point she is overwhelmed and frankly very confused and questioning if she really knew her mother at all.
Thanks for stopping on by Wirthwhile Thoughts of Julia Wirth! And for any of those who haven't read this series I would suggest checking out the trailer of the movie based on the first book Divergent!

Most Important Line- Alleigant
In the chapter when the divergents just escaped the city and they are retaining a ton of infomation about the new world that they just have entered. Tobias esspecially is effected by this change. He is conflicted between being excited about getting away from his unstable mother and his abusive father. And being confused and upset about that the things that used to be so important to him like the fractions and his job now don't matter. This makes him feel like all the things he has worked so hard for doesn't even matter.
In Allegiant Tobias expresses his feeling towards the new information, "I still feel numb and confused when I walk back to the dormitory later and crawl back into bed. I don't know what I'll do." (Roth 143) This is the most important lines in the chapter because it shows Tobias feeling towards the past hectic day. The words like numb and confused show that he has not really figured out his feeling towards escaping out of the city he has know all his life. We will have to see how the next few days will affect him.

Allegiant Personality-Tris
In the book Allegiant by Veronica Roth Tris' personality shows the most through when she takes action for something she cares about or wants. For an example when the divergents were trying to escape the city to the unknown area that they were told to go help revive the rest of the world. "I looked back down at Tori, and her eyes are closed, her body still. Pointing my flashlight at the ground, I sprint away from the women I just shot. My legs ache and my lungs burn. I don't know where I'm going, if I'm running into danger or away from it, but I keep running as long as I can." (Roth 93) This scene in the book is right after Tris finds out that Tori one of her friends is dead.
Even though Tris is devastated she realizes that if she wants to save the others she loves she will have to leave her behind. Also she desperately wants and needs to get out of the city so no matter how much pain she is in she will keep on running. Also the fact that she doesn't know if she is even running towards danger or from shows how persistent she is towards her goals. And the fearlessness she had when she was trying to save her friend. Overall Tris is a strong willed and one of the strongest bravest person in the book.

Beatrice to Tris the Transformation
In the past week I have finished the book Divergent by Veronica Roth and throughout the book the main character went through some major changes. When she is first introduced she is Beatrice who lives in Abnegation the fraction of selflessness and no material things. She wore gray baggy clothes and had never had a hamburger. But she always had know that she doesn't fit in here she was just too selfish and wanting more in her life than just helping everyone. So, when it come time for her to choose her new fraction she decides to turn away from her old home and go in to the brave and danger seeking Dauntless.
This switch was a major reason of her drastic change. She changed her name to Tris, wore black tight clothes, and had tattoos all over her body. She learned how to fight and face her fears head on. But more importantly to be brave. She found herself becoming less selfish and willing to do anything for the people she loved. This changed my opinion that she was a helpless little girl that needed to be protected to one of the strongest bravest people in the book protect the people that she loved even if it meant risking her own life.

Divergent and Hunger Games Comparison
Today I'm going to compare two of the favorite book series Divergent and Hunger Games. First I'll compare the relationships in the books. In Divergent the relationship between Tobias and Tris is constant throughout the book and they are always there for each other. You can really tell that their love is true. Unlike Huger Games were at the beginning of the book Katniss has a fake relationship with Peeta but might have feelings for Gale. Then at the end of the series kind of abruptly if I do say so myself Gale goes off to the military and Katniss ends up with Peeta. And the love shown in Divergent seems more real than the loves in Hunger Games.
Next, I'm going to compare the conflicts that take place in the books Divergent and Hunger Games. On a side note a similarity between the two are that they take place in futuristic America. Ok, back on track when you look at the broad scheme of things you can see that both of the stories main conflicts are about corruption in their society that tries to control them. Also at the end of the conflicts in the society end up collapsing in violence. As you can see Divergent and Hunger Games series have similarities and differences and if you liked one you will most definably like the other I would highly recommend these series to anyone who likes books that you just can't put down.

Allegiant Songs *spoilers may be included
I Know the Truth
by Elton John
I know the truth and it mocks me
I know the truth and it shocks me
I learned it a little too late
People have faith in me
I think I once did too
I promise whoever has a hold on our lives
I'll see the bad times through
This song really related to the point in my book when the divergents that came out of the city found out that everything they fought a believed in was all just an experiment and that they were several others just like them around the world. Now if I found that out I would not be the happiest camper either. For an example its like if someone told you that going to school was all an experiment and it didn't really matter anymore. That's how the main characters are feeling at this point. Like in the song it says that "I learned the truth and it shocks me I learned it a little too late." That how Tobias feels especially because he has been working so hard to earn everyone's respect and to hide that he was divergent just to find out it was all for nothing. He even has a tattoo covering every inch on his back because of his old life.
I Think of Iridescent
by Linkin Park
You were standing in the wake of devastation
You were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down, insides crying save me now
You were there and possibly alone
Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
You build up hope, but failure's all you've known
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go,
let it go.
This song really relates to the ending in Alligent when Tris dies, I think these lyrics relate to what is going through Tobias's mind after that tragic event happened. I found this esspecially in these lines in the song. "With the cataclysm raining down, insides crying save me now." This song I picture would be Tris's message to him after she dies. Her message would be in this line that even though your instint was to alway save her even in the maddness going on around them. He couldn't of saved her even if he tried. " Remember all the sadness and frustration And let it go, let it go." In these lines she is saying let go of all your frustration and saddness because it will just hold you down.

For instance they tell Tobias that the divergents are the people with pure undamaged genes. But, when they go to test them he finds out that they are in fact damaged. The doctors try to explain that sometimes this happens. This angers him very much like they are saying there is something wrong with him. He feels like he can't talk to Tris anymore because she can't understand what he's going through because her genes are pure and unharmed. I wonder when he will accept this news and realize that it doesn't change who he is.
Tris finds out that her mother who had dies saving her life was sent into the experiment and once lived out in the real world. She uncovers many secrets about her mothers past and why she was sent in to the experiment. As she does this she goes through many emotions first it's betrayal, she just wonders why her mother wouldn't tell her this. Then it's wonder of many questions that were now unanswered. Did my dad know? What was she sent in to do? She went searching for these answers from anyone who knew her mother. But this just seemed like with every answer she got more and more came up. At this point she is overwhelmed and frankly very confused questioning if she really knew her mother at all.

The Fault in Our Stars
I have just finished that infamous book The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I have to say it was a real tear jerker. Throughout the whole book I had a roller costar of emotions. For an example when Gus confessed his love for Hazel I did not know how to feel happy or sad. "She is so beautiful. You don't get tired of looking at her. You never worry if she is smarter than you: You know she is. She is funny without ever being mean. I love her. I am so lucky to love her, Van Houten. You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, old man, but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices. I hope she likes hers." (Green 313)
I was conflicted how to feel because they are in love and happy with one another. But on the flip side you know that Hazel has terminal cancer and Gus is recovered from his but it could come back. So you know that they are both living like today is their last day. This causes the reader to be conflicted in their emotions throughout the book. This book, The Fault in Our Stars is a must read for everyone! If that didn't make you want to read it watch the trailer from the up incoming movie based of the book The Fault in Our Stars.

Divergent
My favorite book that I read last trimester was Divergent by Veronica Roth. From the start of the book I was hooked. I couldn't but the book down all week. This book was about a girl named Beatrice who lived in Abnegation, which was one of the five fractions in the book. Each fraction had very different lifestyles, as an example Abnegation was the fraction of selflessness. Everything they did was to help and care for other people. But then there was Dauntless, the daring and brave fraction.
Beatrice never felt like she really fit in with the other people in her fraction. She was too selfish. When the people turn sixteen in their society they take a test to see which fraction they best fit in. Her results arrived inconclusive and she was told they call these people divergent. The person who tested her warned her that some of the leaders will kill her if they find out she is a divergent. When it came to the day where Beatrice could either pick a new fraction or stay where she was, she was very conflicted. She ends up choosing the complete opposite lifestyle of Dauntless. The rest of the book is like a roller coaster, full of unexpected twists and turns and takes you for the ride of your life. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an exciting read!

Blog Reflections
This
trimester has been a little hectic with the snow days and many breaks, but one
thing for sure, whether you’re snowed in or at school you can always read. This
trimester I have read four excellent books. The books I read were The Host, Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant. My goal was to read three
books by the end of the trimester so I have exceeded my goal. Goodreads helped
me gain lots of suggestions for new reading material. I really enjoyed searching
around the website and finding new books. It was also helpful to see what other
people were reading. The last three books that I read were a series that I
found on the Goodreads website. One thing that I have struggled with through
this blogging experience was choosing a prompt that would really let me deeply
explain what was happening in my book. As the trimester went on I feel like I improved
in this area.
Over the course of the trimester I have
noticed that I have grown greatly in my ability to closely analyze my book in
my blogs. I have found an example of a post at the beginning of the trimester
and one from the end to prove how my ability to analyze a text has improved.
They are linked below so you can read them:
Old Blog: http://juliawirthreadingblog.blogspot.com/2013/12/i-am-still-pretty-early-in-book-host-by.html
At the
beginning of the trimester all of my prompts were very basic and light and the
ones towards the end are much more focused on analyzing the text. For an
example, my prompt for the old blog was why I chose the book that I was reading
and the prompt for the new blog was to write about a dynamic character and
support how that character has changed throughout the text. An example from the
old blog is “At first I chose the book because I had seen the trailer for the
movie a little while ago and thought it looked interesting.” As you can see,
there was no in-depth analyzing of the text I was reading and I wasn’t choosing
prompts that allowed me to analyze the text. As the trimester progressed, I started
switching up my prompts to ones that went deeper in hidden meanings and analyzing
the text. An example from my newer blog is “This changed my opinion that she
was a helpless little girl that needed to be protected to one of the strongest
bravest people in the book protect the people that she loved even if it meant
risking her own life.” This shows how I switched from describing the book to
analyzing the book. I really worked hard on making these changes to my blog
posts throughout the trimester. Changing prompts and analyzing the text gives
the people reading my blogs a deeper understanding of the books I am reading.

Blizzard Blog 2
So far in class we have read all of Act 1 in Romeo and Juliet. So far I have enjoyed it very much. I like the many literary devices that they have used such as metaphors and personification. Also I have liked how many characters are foils like Tybalt and Benvolio. But, some things that I have disliked about the play is that sometimes the words that they use I don't know so it makes it hard to comprehend what they are trying to convey. Also I interpret some of their phrases differently than I was suppose to. I am excited to see where the play goes next and learn to understand it better.
Blizzard Blog 1
Currently I am on the last book of the series Divergent it is called Allegiant. A few of the people who escaped the city found out that the whole time there had been living in there they had been watched every second of everyday. They found out it was experiment and that's all they were. They are furious and are questioning everything that they have known all this time. But, most of all their afraid of the unknown of this new world. They now have to adapt to this new lifestyle. I'm excited to see how this will effect them.

Divergent
Over the break I finished my book The Host and started reading the book Divergent. My new book is what you could say a mixture of the book Matched and The Hunger Games. Like Matched the people have the way they live their life mapped out for them and like Hunger Games they live in separate communities and each one has a totally different life style. The book starts with a girl named Beatrice who lives in the community that always put each other first and does not want anything in return. Beatrice does not fit in quite right in this life style and that would all change when she goes in for her test to find out what community she fits into. When she gets her results she finds out that she is something called divergent. This is that she show traits of multiple communities, she is also told it is very dangerous being one of these rare people. She then has to chose if she wants to stay in her community, Abnegation or make probably the most drastic change to a community that protects and fights for the country called Dauntless. Beatrice ends up choosing Dauntless. I'm excited to see how her unique test results play into her way of life in her new home.
